Serre Chevalier School Ski Trips
The Resort:
The name Serre Chevalier is the name of the ski area itself and it is surrounded by around a dozen villages to create a large area full of alpine character. The villages include Briancon, Chantemerle, Villeneuve and Le Monetier les Bains. These villages are situated in the Cote d’Azur region of Southeast France at the foot of the Hautes Alps. The slopes look out across the stunning pine trees of the Les Ecrins National Park giving skiers extraordinary views across all the slopes. The towns themselves are extremely pretty and full of narrow cobbled streets and small cafes.
Skiing in Serre Chevalier:
The area gives visitors a massive 250kms of linked pistes and terrain with open tree areas, banks, gullies, moguls, wide runs, long cruising trials, and quicker more challenging runs all available. There is also access to a huge cross-country area as well as a boardercross zone with banks and slaloms. Next to Villeneuve is the altitude Snowpark which is a designated freestyle area as well as 3 levels based on the difficulty which allows beginners and intermediates to enjoy the park and the easier features. For advanced skiers, there is the Olympic Luc Alphand black run which is extremely quick. Additionally, the ski area provides access to Montgenevre for even more ski terrain.
For Schools Because:
The whole area of Serre Chevalier has a laid-back friendly atmosphere that is ideal for school trips, whilst the North facing slopes provide exceptional snow cover meaning top-quality snow and pistes are almost guaranteed. The beginner trails are numerous and crowd free which is also perfect for a large group with mixed abilities. Accessibility is also important, and all the villages are connected by free ski buses that run throughout the day. This allows multiple slopes to be accessed in a short time and easy routes back to accommodation and restaurants.
Après Ski:
The town of Briancon is a great way to spend an afternoon as it is a historic town with pretty cobbled streets and ramparts. There are multiple little cafes, restaurants, and shops to enjoy as well as a cinema, ice rink, ten-pin bowling, and an aqua leisure centre. In Monetier Les Bains there is a thermal spa complex which is a great way to relax.
