Pila School Ski Trips
One of the Most Snow-Sure Resorts in the Northern Alps
The Resort:
Located in the Aosta valley, in the Northwest of Italy, on the French and Swiss borders, the Pila resort has sensational views of some of Europe’s highest peaks including Mont Blanc and Matterhorn. Skiing here will take your breath away with tree-lined slopes looking out across miles of stunning scenery. The historic Roman town of Aosta is only a 20-minute gondola ride away that has a friendly and charming atmosphere.
Skiing in Pila:
In recent years Pila has increased its ability to cater to beginners with runs such as Baby Gorraz and Baby Pila being created to allow natural progression into more challenging runs. Pila boasts acres of off-piste terrain as well as numerous black runs above treeline providing adventures for all abilities of skiers. Known for its groomed slopes, many are well prepared whilst some are left deliberately rough for those who enjoy creating powder as they speed along tree-lined runs. The outstanding maintenance of its slopes and its 62% snow cannon coverage make it a great place to be even if the weather is not your side. Its modern and efficient lift system makes lift queues non-existent even at weekends, allowing constant access to the first-class slopes that make it a hidden gem.
For Schools Because:
A huge attraction of Pila is its excellent English-speaking instructors and selection of ski schools. Alongside this, the beginner’s zone at the top of the Aosta gondola makes the resort a great fit for mixed-ability groups as it also caters to advanced skiers. Pila is also a car-free resort which results in a safe environment that is needed for a large group or school trip.
Après Ski:
The Areaeffe Snowpark provides snowboarders with an opportunity to hone their skills, whilst dogsledding, ice skating, tubing and swimming are fun activities for an afternoon off your skis. The resort also has several good-value slope-side restaurants that offer delicious food such as pizza and fondue. The town of Aosta also adds to the evening experience with even more restaurants and a range of shops.
