The Resort:

Known as Innsbruck’s ‘White Roof’, Axamer Lizum is located 19km out of Innsbruck next to the town of Axams. It has a fantastic Alpine setting and looks out over the stunning scenery of the Tirolean Alps. Skiing in Axamer Lizum:

With lots of red trails alongside long blue runs, the resort specialises in intermediate-level runs. There are 2 long runs that end in the villages of Axams and Gotzens whilst another freeriding terrain creates spectacular treelined runs that winds down towards the base of the slopes. However, the resort does cater to advanced skiers with the men’s Olympic slalom black run a challenging task as well as off-piste potential with the help of local guides. When heavy snowfalls occur the Birgitzkopfle Area creates perfect powder dumps. This happens often as the elevation and North facing slopes create large snowfall all season long. The resort even has a ski jump stadium which can be worth a visit.

For Schools Because:

Axamer Lizum is ideal for school trips due to its combination of terrific value lift passes, crowd-free powder skiing, and next to no lift lines during the weeks. Although lots of the runs favour intermediate-level skiers, there is a top-rated ski school that works on wide plateaus, showing how the resort fits everyone. Add to this a freestyle Snowpark and first-class snowboard tuition, it is easy to see why it is a popular resort as it caters for all. There is also easy access to Innsbruck for travel and day trips. To get around the area there is a convenient funicular which takes you from the towns and villages to the slopes.

Après ski:

In Axams alone there are around 20 various places to eat including simple cafes to charming restaurants. In particular, the Hoaldhaus panoramic restaurant is worth a visit with its beautiful winter garden and stunning views. Innsbruck is only a 20km drive away and provides great shopping opportunities as well as activities such as swimming, ice skating, and bowling.
