Jasper School Ski Trips
A UNESCO World Heritage Site
The Resort:
The town of Jasper and the Marmot Basin ski resort is located in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Jasper National Park, Alberta, in the midst of the Rockies. The town itself has a charming community feel to it, with beautiful surroundings of picturesque mountain scenery. As Canada’s northernmost ski resort, it also has exceptional snowfall. If you are lucky you may even spot elk or deer, which are known to be seen around the resort.
Skiing in Jasper/Marmot Basin:
With 91km of piste, the range and variety of runs here are particularly impressive. For beginners, there is over 25km of meandering gentle runs, whilst at the base area day lodge, there is a beginner’s zone that also has lift-served progression routes to help newbies move on to the wide-open bowls and groomed runs. There are also treelined runs, moguls, chutes, and alpine bowls to ensure that the slopes never get boring. Due to the amount of snowfall Jasper has plenty of natural dry powder snow, and there is also access to the backcountry off-piste creating plenty of opportunities for a more natural skiing experience. On top of this, there are two terrain parks with a variety of jumps, rails, and boxes to excite snowboarders and freestylers.
For Schools Because:
Jasper is home to a ski school with a fantastic reputation as well as other helpful facilities such as the equipment rental shop which is ideal for larger school groups. Although it is a well-known and top-quality resort, the pistes are often uncrowded, especially when compared to other resorts, and you hardly ever see lift queues.
Après Ski:
In the town of Jasper, there is a long list of exciting activities to do during afternoons or days off. There is a great range of shops, a cinema, an art gallery, and a leisure centre with a swimming pool, waterslide, and hot tubs. Other snow activities are also available including ice skating, ice fishing, dogsled tours, and the glorious Maligne Canyon Ice walk. During the evenings, there is a great choice of restaurants, many internationally themed, where you can relax and eat after an exciting day.
