Santa Caterina School Ski Trips
Snow, Sun and Fun!
The resort:
In the Valfurva valley of Italy in the Lombardy region, Santa Caterina is an endearing village located 1700m up the mountain. This altitude means top-quality snow all season long and allows skiers to ski down back into the village after a day on the slopes, with ski-in accommodation also available, making it an easily accessible village and resort. The valley rests in the Stelvio National Park, one of the largest protected natural areas in Italy, giving the resort an extremely peaceful atmosphere. With over 200 types of birds, deer, mountain goats, and other animals the natural beauty here is spectacular.
Skiing in Santa Caterina:
Santa Caterina offers a large variety of runs, from the longest 11.3km run to several sustained treelined advanced piste trails. It is home to the famous Deborah Compagnoni slope, named after the former Italian skier, which was opened in 2005 as part of the Alpine Ski World Championships. Its modern flood light system makes it perfect for night-time skiing. Exceptional off-piste terrain is also available, whilst there is a good range and length of intermediate piste trails for the less- confident skiers showing how the resort caters to large mixed-ability groups. There is even a ski stadium that contains an enclosed nursery slope for beginners.
For Schools because:
Virtually empty slopes create the perfect opportunity for beginners to learn with confidence before tackling the range of red runs available once they are up to speed. The location of the resort itself is also ideal for school groups as the village is quiet and safe, allowing students to take in the views and shops at no risk due to its lack of winter traffic.
Après Ski:
In Santa Caterina itself, there is a natural ice rink, whilst more shops, cafes, and even thermal baths are located just a short drive away. On the mountain itself, there is a fantastic selection of restaurants as well. Every week guest races are held on the slopes, whilst the torchlit descent of the Cevedale slope is a great evening activity that will leave you with fond memories of the magnificent slopes. The tourist board also organizes a moonlit snowshoe walk through the woods, which is suitable for all.
